Does Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 support Fast Charging?

Taiwanese company Asus made a bang in the Indian smartphone market with its mid-range device Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which made its debut with the Redmi Note 5 Pro. After having a massive battery capacity of 5000mAh, fast charging is one of the most asked questions for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Asus in the launch of Zenfone Max Pro M1 claimed that the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 takes about 2:30 hours to charge fully from 0-100% with its fast charger. But the charger provided in the box is the 10W adapter which does not meet the Quick Charge standards.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1’s competitor Redmi Note 5 Pro supports QC2.0 when used with a third-party QC2.0 supported adapter. Although the QC2.0 supported adapter is not provided in the box with the Redmi Note 5 Pro it does support QC2.0 which can give a minor difference to charging time.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro when practically tested with stock charger and third-party Quick Charge supported chargers was found that the device took nearly 2:30-2:45 to charge fully from 0% which does not show any Quick Charge support although Asus claims to have fast charging support.

Here is a table for your reference which shows the specifications of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge Technology.

Quick ChargeMax. PowerMax. Voltage
QC 1.0 10W 5V
QC 2.0 18W 5V/9V/12V
QC 3.0 18W 3.20V - 20V
QC 4.0 18W-28W 3.6V - 20V

Despite the fact the Asus Zenfone Max Pro does not support Quick Charge, it is a great value-for-money device having its pros and cons just like all other devices do.

    • The Zenfone Max Pro, I have doesn’t take more than 3 hours to charge from 0-100.
By the way, when you connect your phone to charger, what do u get on the screen, ‘charging rapidly’ or ‘charging slowly’..?

    • If yours takes more than 5 hours, your probably using 1 electric socket with multiple devices already using up the current (like using on a multi pin connector). Try charging on an independent electric socket for this alone and it should charge fast ~3 hrs
